Women Marines Association scholarship program

Purpose:

The Women Marines Association grants scholarships between $1,500 and $3,000 for its members to “be used at any accredited college, university, or college level trade school” that may include aviation studies.

Its purpose is to award grants to qualified applicants sponsored by WMA MEMBERS. These grants may be used at any accredited college, university or college level trade school.

~WMA Memorial Scholarships in the amount of $1,500 or $3,000 based on the number of qualified applicants.
~The Lily H. Gridley Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,500.
~The LaRue A. Ditmore Music Scholarship in the amount of $1,500 or $3,000 based on the number of qualified applicants.
~One Ethyl and Armin Wiebke Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,500.
~One Major Megan McClung Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,500.
~The Agnes Sopcak Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,500 or $3,000 based on the number of qualified applicants.
~One Virginia Guveyan Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1,500.

  • A number of additional scholarships in various amounts may also be given. The purpose is to award grants to qualified applicants sponsored by WMA MEMBERS. These grants may be used at any accredited college, university or college level trade school.
  • WMA members may sponsor an unlimited number of applicants per year.
  • No individual is eligible to receive more than one (1) scholarship per academic year (with a maximum of two (2) lifetime awards). An applicant who receives a $3,000 scholarship will have met the maximum two lifetime awards.
  • Application period extends exclusively from 1 November through 28 February. Applications postmarked after deadline will not be considered.
  • A completely new package must be submitted each time applicant applies. Previous submissions will not be considered.

Eligibility:

  • Women must have either participated in a Marine Corps JROTC program, have served or be serving in the U.S. Marine Corps or Reserve, or have immediate family members that are on active duty or have served with the Marines.
  1. Have served, or be serving in the United States Marine Corps or Reserve;
  2. Be a direct descendant by blood, legal adoption or stepchild of a Marine on active duty, or who has served honorably in the United States Marine Corps, Regular or Reserve;
  3. Be a sibling or a descendant of a sibling by blood, legal adoption, or step-child of a Marine on active duty, or who has served honorably in the United States Marine Corps, Regular or Reserve, OR;
  4. Have participated in a Marine Corps JROTC program.

Value:

No individual is eligible to receive more than one (1) scholarship per academic year (with a maximum of two (2) lifetime awards). An applicant who receives a $3,000 scholarship will have met the maximum two lifetime awards.

Application Submission Process and Completion Date:

The Women Marines Association application deadline is Feb. 28.
