Sugarloaf Pay It Forward Scholarship

Purpose:

Sugarloaf Chapter 99s is offering up to a $500 scholarship in honor of the “small but mighty” Sugarloaf 99’s chapter, who has provided inspiration and support to fellow aviatrix by “Paying It Forward” to help support the women of our chapter and section pursue their aviation related goals. Funds may be used for any phase of flight training (initial pilot through ATP including instrument, instructor or other ratings), academic work related to aviation, air racing, or charity flying to a qualified applicant who is an associate or member of the Sugarloaf Chapter or the Mid-Atlantic Region of The Ninety-Nines, Inc.

Eligibility:

1. Initial Certificate and Instrument Rating require a chapter or section mentor identified and recommendation letter written by the mentor (one of the two required)

2. Applicant Essay should include how you intend to use the funds, how any additional expenses will be covered to complete your chosen activity, how long you have been an associate or member, and a brief history of your volunteerism

3. At least one of the Letters of Recommendation should be from your CFI, Trainer, Teacher, Program Lead, etc. supporting your effort

4. Provide a copy of the Training or Event Program/Curriculum/Syllabus, etc. that outlines the activity to be funded (limit 2 pages).

Please note that applicant and mentor (if applicable) must report monthly to the Sugarloaf Scholarship Chair on Progress. Funds will be paid to the vendor directly after receipt of evidence achieving specific milestone(s) or other criteria agreed upon at the time of award notification.

Application Submission Process and Completion Date:

Completed scholarship application packets must be RECEIVED BY MARCH 5, 2016

Please submit your FULLY COMPLETED application packet for each scholarship for which you apply in one of the following ways: (a) Mail: Submit one (1) original and two (2) copies of the application packet to the address above. Please mark the envelope “99s Scholarship Applications” (b) Electronic: Submit one (1) fully completed application packet via email to Terry Carbonell, scholarshipregistry@ninety-nines.org. In the subject line please write: “99s scholarship application – (scholarship name)”. Expect a confirmation of receipt within 24 hours.

Selection Process:

Scholarship winners will be notified on or before April 9, 2016.

All award money will be paid to the training institution, flight instructor or applicant as determined by each individual scholarship donor. All training must be completed by June 30, 2017. Progress reports shall be provided to the scholarship donor as requested by the scholarship donor.
