99’s Southeast Section – New Horizons Scholarship

The Southeast Section New Horizons Scholarship

Purpose:

The SE Section 99s is offering a $2,000 scholarship to a FEMALE APPLICANT for training and achieving any level of flight training from private pilot and beyond.

Eligibility:

Application requirements:

• Current applicant photograph, copies of current pilot certificate, medical, and BFR.
• An essay providing information about the applicant’s background and specific plans for the use of the scholarship. A separate page detailing information about any aviation related violations or accidents, whether a medical has ever been refused or lost, and information as to whether or not the applicant has ever been terminated from a flying job and if so, why.
• Optional: up to 2 letters of recommendation.
• Optional: any recent relevant articles or commendations.

Limitations:

• Applicant must live in the SE Section region (FL, AL, MS, eastern LA, NC, SC, TN, GA).

Value: $2,000

Application Submission Process and Completion Date:

Please submit your FULLY COMPLETED application packet for each scholarship for which you apply in one of the following ways: (a) Mail: Submit one (1) original and two (2) copies of the application packet to the address above. Please mark the envelope “99s Scholarship Applications” (b) Electronic: Submit one (1) fully completed application packet via email to Terry Carbonell, scholarshipregistry@ninety-nines.org. In the subject line please write: “99s scholarship application – (scholarship name)”. Expect a confirmation of receipt within 24 hours. Please review your application packets carefully to be certain that all required items are included in each packet.

Completed scholarship application packets must be RECEIVED BY MARCH 5, 2016.

Selection Process:

Scholarship winners will be notified on or before April 9, 2016.

All award money will be paid to the training institution, flight instructor or applicant as determined by each individual scholarship donor. All training must be completed by June 30, 2017. Progress reports shall be provided to the scholarship donor as requested by the scholarship donor.

The Southeast Section New Horizons Scholarship will memorialize our 99s sisters who have passed to New Horizons, as well as challenge the scholarship recipients to reach new horizons as they accomplish their flight training.
