Purpose:

This is a scholarship designed to assist young people with the obtaining of a private pilot’s license.

Eligibility:

Must be a US Citizen between the ages of 16 and 23, pursuing a private pilot’s license at a non-collegiate flight school.

Applications can be downloaded and submitted between October and January 31st.

Selection Process:

Scholarships are awarded by the foundation’s board.

History/Background:

This award is named after the first officer and co-pilot of United Flight 93, which went down September 11, 2001 in Shanksville, PA originally on route to San Francisco, CA but diverted by terrorists to Washington D.C. with a presumed intended target of the US Capitol. The plot was thwarted by brave crew and passengers, all hands on board were lost.
