Michelle North Scholarship for Safety

Purpose:

The scholarship pays the registration fee for the recipient to attend the Integrating Human Factors Analysis into Your SMS course, which is part of the HAI Professional Education Program to be held at HAI HELI-EXPO, in Las Vegas, February 26–March 1 (exhibits open February 27–March 1).

Eligibility:

Applicants must be a pilot who holds an FAA commercial helicopter rating or an international-equivalent rating. Applicants must already be working in helicopter industry, either in the safety or safety management field or preparing to enter the safety or safety management field.

Application Submission Process and Completion Date:

Scholarship applications are accepted beginning September 1. At that time, a pdf form will be available for you to download, fill out, and save to your computer. You can stop and save your work at any time; your work will be saved until your next session.

Email your completed application and all supporting documents to scholarships@rotor.org by midnight EST, November 30.. Please ensure that all portions are completed; only complete applications that are accompanied by all required supporting documentation will be considered.

In addition to your completed application, you will need to submit the following documents:

  • Resume
  • Current photo
  • Two letters of recommendation.

Selection Process:

Scholarship winners are chosen by the HFI Scholarship Review Committee.

History/Background:

The scholarship was founded in memory of Michelle North, a longtime industry advocate of safety, to encourage a stronger focus on safety education and training in helicopter operations.
